Harmony between the real and the imaginary
This workshop is part of a bilogy that Felipe Alonso will teach in Madrid. Although students can choose to attend one of the workshops independently, they are designed to complement each other.
CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES
- To promote a space of approach and reflection on the pictorial process and the plastic elements necessary for a harmonious representation between the real and the imaginary.The portrait as an excuse..
- To promote the development of expressive plastic elements not necessarily linked to figuration, in dialogue with a portrait, for the sake of artistic research.
- Investigate the advantages and disadvantages of different media, mediums, paints, varnishes and brushes for each of the phases of the painting and the research.
METHODOLOGY
The participants will work with acrylic and oil paint on a suitable support. This exercise will start with a digital image provided by the teacher in which we will investigate the most expressive aspects of the plastic aspects without disregarding the resemblance to the portrayed.
During the sessions of the workshop we will go through the various stages of the construction of a painting and with practical examples we will analyse:
-The transcendence and repercussion of a proper preparation of the painting support.
-Possible mental and formal processes for the development of these work
.
-Technical aspects, procedures and materials in the paint;ing: supports, pigments, mediums and varnishes.
-The importance of the backup of digital image editing programs, for the resolution of difficulties in the conception of the image
-The most appropriate procedures and techniques in line with the work at hand.
-Analysis of painters who work the disfigurement.
The teacher will focus on each participant to achieve the greatest technical advances, taking into account each person individuality.
